Building Sustainable Communities

Travel Motives is serious about contributing towards sustainable tourism development in Southern Africa and so invests in several community development initiatives that focus on the most pressing issues of our times – education and children.

We have partnered with the Izzi Trust Foundation, situated in the North West Province of South Africa, as well as the Forest Town School Foundation, a charity located in Johannesburg, who both undertake commendable work within their communities.

Izzi Trust Foundation

We have partnered with the Izzi Trust Foundation to assist with their mission to provide financially disadvantaged children with the best education our country can offer. They are a children’s charity whose philosophy centres on empowerment through education. Their three main areas of activity are:

  • Running outreach programmes at underprivileged schools and creches.
  • Providing bursaries that enable financially disadvantaged children to attend some of our country’s finest schools.
  • Encouraging and facilitating environmental, cultural and academic events that bring together children from our country’s many different economic and social groups.

Forest Town School

This was the first school for disabled children in South Africa and it has been running for more than fifty years. They facilitate a variety of programmes for children with disabilities who without early multi-disciplinary support and intervention would not be able to enjoy a full life; this includes participation in the economy. Beyond this they also provide training for those working with the disabled, enterprise development training and facilitate learnerships for youth with disabilities.
