Travel to South Africa - great safaris and so much more

For this our first of many blog posts, aimed at sharing our views on what makes the Southern African region such an attractive and unique destination for Incentive travel, we would like to share with  our readers what makes us so passionate about what we do.

Traditionally, people associate “Africa” with just being a safari destination, however, Southern Africa is a region filled with much much more than just excellent game viewing.  There is no doubt that a safari in South Africa and beyond, is a differentiating factor for the destination, but the region is also filled with captivating culture, fascinating history, stunning landscapes and world heritage sites, excellent shopping and entertainment facilities, as well as a huge choice of adventure and exciting activities.

We could fill this post and many more after this one, describing all the unique attractions Southern Africa has to offer, but rather, we would like to mention something many incentive travel planners and event managers overlook, and it is a driving force behind our passion for the industry.

It’s important that incentive houses and corporate companies organizing incentive travel know that their choice of destination makes a difference.

This is what makes us passionate about what we do.

Every time one of our incentive groups travel to South Africa, more jobs are created. For every 1 visitor entering South Africa, 7 jobs are created.  Therefore one of our incentive groups can create about 20 jobs. Directly or indirectly, tourism constitutes approximately 7% of employment in South Africa, and this figure is growing.

It is obvious then, why this becomes an industry we feel good about being a part of every day.

President Jacob Zuma said that tourism is well positioned to be a leading avenue for addressing unemployment, especially given its labour intensive nature. “Tourism jobs are not only created in the travel and tourism industry, but also in manufacturing, financial services, agriculture, healthcare and numerous other peripheral industries.   More significantly, this sector has become a fertile environment for entrepreneurs and small, medium and micro enterprises,” said Zuma. He said “disadvantaged people are increasingly making their careers in tourism, creating jobs for others and building their own businesses.”

Each and every visitor entering the country makes a difference either through creating tourism jobs as mentioned, supporting social and wildlife conservation efforts or physically getting involved in building communities. Choosing South Africa as an incentive destination for your groups will always make a difference to the country and its people, and this is an ‘incentive’ to visit South Africa in itself.

Support decreasing unemployment, visit South Africa.
